Harpers Ferry Children's Park Sign

C.W. Shipley Elementary is proud of Avery Van Vliet! During a clean-up on Earth Day, this 10-year-old saw that the Children’s Park in Harpers Ferry needed to be made ADA-compliant so everyone could enjoy the space. After reaching out to Mayor Gregory Vaughn, Avery ended up being appointed to the Harpers Ferry’s Parks and Recreation Board.  A Pumpkin Roll event on Saturday will highlight Van Vliet’s efforts and raise money to improve the park. The Pumpkin Roll will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine, at 557 Washington St.
