CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Jefferson County School’s Heather Pindell is among the finalists for 2021-20221 West Virginia School Service Personnel of the Year. The West Virginia Department of Education announced 10 finalists Tuesday. The honor recognizes the commitment and dedication of staff members in the public school system who work beyond expectations to serve students and families in their communities. Pindell, a 31- year employee of Jefferson County Schools’ Transportation Department, is Transportation Supervisor, but she may be best known in the school system for a project entitled “Stuff A Bus,” where she partnered with Walmart and Jefferson County Council on Aging to provide book bags and school supplies for children who needed these supplies. She also partnered with Chick-Fil-A to “Stuff a Bus to Keep Our Kids Warm.” In the community, she created and organized free lunches for “Furloughed Government Workers”, organized a benefit to support victims of Domestic Violence, and many more activities for which she has provided support and leadership.
Her supervisor says, “Mrs. Pindell’s dedication to the students of Jefferson County is second to none. She continually goes above and beyond the call of her job duties to make sure our employees and students know they are valued and respected.”
