
7th grade students attended an assembly about The Lion Dance and Martial Arts as part of their Ancient China Unit. Ms. Kowalski, 7th Grade Ancient Civilizations teacher, planned the event and funded it through a grant. Students were enthralled with all parts of the assembly.











Before the break, 8th Grade students in Ms. Greule's ELA classes created Ugly Christmas sweaters to represent the characters in their independent reading novels. Students also played Reindeer Games.

1/22/24: A Jefferson County School bus transporting students to Harpers Ferry Middle School was involved in a minor traffic accident this morning. There were no injuries when a vehicle rear-ended bus 1103 on U.S. 340 near Bolivar. First responders examined students on the scene before they were transported to school by another school bus. We appreciate our ongoing partnership with first responders and our transportation staff, who work to keep students safe.

1/11/24: Harpers Ferry Middle School staff responded to a threatening statement from one of our students today. Staff immediately contacted law enforcement, who investigated and determined the threat was NOT CREDIBLE. Randomly selected eighth grade students at Harpers Ferry Middle School will participate in the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) on Tuesday, March 5. Please see the included letter for more information.



Any 7th or 8th grade students who are interested in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math can now apply to the Governor's STEM Institute, a free summer camp. Seventh graders are learning to unleash the power of STEM in sports at WVU and 8th graders are studying the mysteries of outer space from the Green Bank Observatory. HFMS Families: We are excited to announce the return of National Junior Honor Society to Harpers Ferry Middle School! Students interested in joining the HFMS chapter of National Junior Honor Society should see Mrs. Barker Wednesday, January 10th, during 4th period for an informational meeting and to pick up an application. Applications are due on Friday, February 2nd. Late applications will not be considered.
