6th Grade students in Ms. Wagoner's and Ms. Schriver's classes created paper airplanes out of notebook paper, copier paper, and cardstock. The students used the scientific method to develop a hypothesis. Then, they flew the airplanes in trials to collect data. This is also practice for the Science Fair, so students will know the steps for it.
Students in Ms. Schriver's STEM class used the Engineer Design Process with a budget of $10 and classroom supplies to create some system that would allow them to launch and catch an object while they are six feet apart from their partner. Students creativity and resilience helped them in this project.

Students in Ms. Henry's 6th Grade US History classroom completed an escape room as a beginning of the year activity. Students used their knowledge of the continents, longitude and latitude, and the roles of the branches of government to solve the different puzzles.

HFMS Families: Volleyball Tryouts will be held next week from 3-4:30 pm. The dates are as follows:
Monday 8/12: 6th Grade.
Tuesday 8/13: 7th & 8th Grades.
Wednesday 8/14: All Grades.
Students must have a sports physical completed prior to attending tryouts.
🍎🌟 JCS offers teachers professional learning for classroom excellence! We're excited to share the success of our third annual Classroom Management Workshop! Our amazing educators engaged in interactive sessions over three days to boost their teaching strategies. HFMS Families of rising 7th graders: This is a gentle reminder that TDAP & MCV4 must be completed & proof of vaccines submitted prior to August 19th. 7th Grade students cannot begin school in the fall without this requirement being completed. Questions? Reach out via email o r phone.

8th Grade students participated in WV Heritage Day stations, which included weaving, butter making, square dancing and making pepperoni rolls as well as presentations on Colonial Life and Folk Music.
8th Grade Parents/Guardians: Due to the potential for thunderstorms tomorrow morning we we will be moving the 8th Grade recognition ceremony to the scheduled rain date which is 9:00 am Friday (5/24). We apologize for any inconvenience and we're not happy with Mother Nature.
